Trust is the key to making it work.

Trust is the key to making it work.

When finding a babysitter or a babysitting job, nothing is more important to the process than trust and safety. Babysits is a community platform and we do our best to encourage the behavioral integrity of our community members. We do this in a number of ways, but the most important are:

Identity Verifications

Both babysitters and parents can verify their ID by confirming their email address, phone number and connecting other online profiles to their account. You can check the member’s profile to see what information has been verified.

Profile Reviews and References

Get to know babysitters and parents through their profiles, references and reviews. Through references and reviews you can see what other community members have said about a babysitter or parent. You should always ask to speak with their references before your first babysitting appointment.

Secure Messaging

Use our messaging system for communicating with other users. When you communicate on our platform, you benefit from our automated screening which can detect fraud and suspicious behavior. You should only communicate via the Babysits messaging service for your safety.

Community Standards

To encourage and foster a better childcare community, Babysits has created a set of community standards we expect all members to follow. All members agree to the community standards and terms and services when they sign up to the website.

Member Reporting

See something, say something. We encourage and make it easy for members to report others who violate our community standards, and we act quickly to respond to these reports.

These are just a few of the ways we work to make your experience on our website safe and trustworthy. We work to monitor our site closely and look to ensure that the jobs and profiles meet our guidelines.

Scammers and Fraud

Identity fraud occurs when someone makes illegal use of your personal data. Babysits never asks for your personal data. Should an unknown user request your personal data, please report this to us immediately as it could be an attempt at fraud.

How can you prevent fraud as a user?

  1. Don’t give information about yourself to other users that you don't know well or trust.
  2. Be careful with personal information such as passport details, email addresses, phone numbers, resumés, etc.
  3. If you are approached by an organization, you should first find out more about the organization. If you are unable to find information about the organization, then you should be wary of potential fraud.

Do you think that you’ve become a victim of fraud?

If you think that you are a victim of fraud, report it to us immediately so that we can block the account of the person in question to prevent continued fraudulent activity.
File a report with the police. We advise you to always file a report with the police when you suspect that you are a victim of identity fraud.

It is important to keep in mind that background checks are not automatically run on our community members. It is ultimately up to our members to run any background checks on those that they communicate and work with. We can address problems that arise with member interactions occurring on our platform. However, if you have interactions which occur outside our platform, we won’t be able to help you with any issues which may arise.
